“You may ask yourself, well, how did I get here?” Talking Heads

After making a decision to forgo the high-tech corporate world to raise my two small children, I was antsy for a project to take on.  So I began renovating a preschool starting with the playground and two buildings that the classrooms were in. Then I began my own “to-the-studs” re-model, followed by a renovation of a rental property.  That's where I discovered a life-long interest in design and architecture. Shortly after I began attending design school while with helping friends with their small and large re-model projects.  And so began my design firm, bd home.

*Some of the most requested one room projects have been living rooms and media spaces such as the man-cave (center).
Even in the early days of running my interior design business I enjoyed the instant gratification of the smaller refresher projects with clients.  Take a single room or two, add some small but impactful changes and you can completely transform a space.  I think summer is the perfect time for the smaller one or two room refreshers.  Not only are they fun, but more importantly they are easy to manage between family obligations and vacation plans.  One of the best kept secrets in the industry is that the workrooms are slower in the summer.  What that means is shorter leadtimes on custom upholstery, pillows and window coverings, and often times at reduced rates.
*Simple summer projects can be as small as adding pillows and an end table as in this entry, reupholstering a sofa, adding drapery, or a wash of color to the walls or refreshing your bedding.
Many of us have a sense of style, but simply want help whittling down the choices.  We want custom look that reflects our personal style at a reasonable price.  Take this master bedroom as an example.

What could be more of a simple pleasure than a cozy bed to slip into every night?  The transformation of this bedroom was made with a few small changes: the addition of an upholstered headboard, the application of grass cloth wallpaper to create an accent wall, and custom (but reasonably priced) silk lamp shades to update the swing-arm lights on the wall.  Just a few small additions to take this bedroom from functional to fabulous!  bd home can do this for any space or sanctuary in your home needing a style overhaul.

For this bedroom space I added a bedside table from Bungalow 5 www.bungalow5.com.  The grass cloth wallpaper is from Donghia www.Donghia.com; and the custom lampshades are from Made in the Shade www.madeintheshadeonline.com.
